Services
Decision Approved
That the Cabinet Member for Finance, Cabinet Member for
Property, Highways and Transport, and the Cabinet
Member for Residents’ Services agreed to the following
capital release request for £62,492 for the Transformer and
Cable Trench at Cranford Park, the release was being
proposed from the 2023/24 General Capital Contingency
Fund, which w ould be ratified through Cabinet (Appendix
A).
Reason for decision The transformer (and associated works of installation) was
paid for in April 2022. Upon delivery to this country in May
2023, the price had risen. The quote for the cable trench was
the most economically advantageous and the quote for the
electrical works was submitted by the company that has
installed all the electrics on the site.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
Not to install the transformer. However, over 80% of the cost
of the transformer has been paid already. Also, the Cable
Bridge has been built, the last section of the cable trench dug,
and the Intake Cupboard prepared; all of this has already been
paid for. Also, the temporary supply in use provides insufficient
electricity to power the supply needed for the site. Quotes have

been sought for the cable trenching from four companies. Of
the figures obtained, this was by far the most economically
advantageous.
Not to use the electrical contractor who has installed all the
electrics to the site. However, their knowledge and the
preparations they have already made for switching supplies
would make them the best choice for the job.
