the decision

Councillor Steve Tuckwell, Cabinet Member for Planning,
Housing & Economic Growth
Decision Approved
The Cabinet Member for Corporate Services &
Property and the Cabinet Member for Planning,
Housing & Economic Growth authorised the
grant of an extension for the relevant period of
90 years to the existing leasehold interest as
outlined in this report in accordance with the
provisions of the Leasehold Reform, Housing
and Urban Development Act 1993.
Reason for decision The recommendations ensured that the Council complied
with its statutory obligations under the Leasehold Reform,
Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 once a valid
notice had been served by a leaseholder. Approval enabled
the Council to progress the required lease extensions within
the prescribed legal timescales and to secure appropriate
premiums through negotiation, or determination by a
tribunal where agreement could not be reached, thereby
protecting the Council’s legal position and financial
interests.
Alternative options
considered and rejected
There is no option but to comply with the Act and grant a
extension to the lease in each case or sale of freehold.
