We object to this application.
On 7 July 2026 the council refused an application for a 9-person HMO at this property. This new application reduces the number of occupants by one, but the main problems remain:
• Loss of a family home. The lawful use of the property is a single family house. An 8-person HMO would still remove a family home from the area. This was the council’s first reason for refusing the previous scheme, and reducing occupancy by one person does not change it.
• Over-intensive use. Eight unrelated adults living in one house would bring a level of noise, comings and goings and garden activity that is out of keeping with the surrounding houses and would harm neighbours’ living conditions.
• Overdevelopment. The proposal keeps a first-floor rear extension, together with roof extensions. The combined bulk of these extensions was another reason the previous scheme was refused.
• Retrospective development. The applicant has acknowledged that the property was converted to HMO use and that the first-floor extension was built without planning permission. The council has already found that development unacceptable.
We ask the council to refuse this application and keep the property as a family home.
