Cabinet Member Decision Notice – 20 May 2021 OFFICIAL DECISION NOTICE PUBLISHED BY DEMOCRATIC SERVICES ON 20 MAY 2021 The Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Transformation and the Cabinet Member for Finance have made the following decision today: 1. CABINET MEMBER FOR CORPORATE SERVICES AND TRANSFORMATION AND CABINET MEMBER FOR FINANCE CAPITAL RELEASE REPORT (MAY 2021) DEPARTMENT: RESIDENT SERVICES SERVICE AREA: ICT CORPORATE TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION PROGRAMME 2021/22 – 2025/26 - TELEPHONY, LAN, WAN AND INTERNET SECURITY PROJECT RELEASE NO: 1 DECISION: That the Cabinet Member for Finance and the Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Transformation agreed to the capital release request of £810k from the 2021/22-2025/26 ICT Corporate Technology & Innovation Programme Capital Budget for the funding of the Telephony, LAN, WAN, and Internet Security Project. REASONS FOR THE DECISIONS MADE A robust telephony system and network infrastructure is essential for the Council’s business continuity. The Telephony and Netwo rk Infrastructure are key Information Technology components that enable Council staff to communicate with each other, with residents and with third party contacts via the corporate telephony system, and to access the Council’s applications and data in the delivery of services to residents. The contract for Telephony, LAN, WAN and Internet Security services was approved by Cabinet in March 2021. It provides support and maintenance for the existing telephony and network infrastructure, enabling Council staff to continue fulfilling services to residents, while allowing ICT and the selected partner to transform these services to a modern, cost -effective replace ment solution that conforms to the ICT strategy of reducing reliance upon the Civic Centre by using Cloud, Hosted or Hybrid technologies where appropriate. ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED AND REJECTED The March 2021 Telephony, LAN, WAN and Internet Security Cabinet report considered and rejected three alternative options. This report requested the release of the capital element for Year 1 of the contract and, therefore, enabled the implementation of Cabinet’s decision on the contract and does not consider any further options.
