(Appendix A) Reason for decision To enable residents to have domestic boilers replaced so that they have a safe and secure source of hot water and heating. Alternative options considered and rejected Wherever practical, economical and safe to do so, boilers are repaired. Boilers that are beyond repair because parts cannot be obtained or beyond sensible economic repair, are replaced. Boilers that are Immediately Dangerous (‘ID’) and cannot be repaired are disconnected. This leaves the resident without hot water and/or heating, therefore these boilers require replacement.
