Decision Approved
That the Cabinet Member agreed the terms for the surrender
and regrant of a new lease negotiated by officers as detailed
in the confidential report and authorised Legal Services to
complete the new lease on these terms.
Reason for decision The Cabinet Member was asked to agree the proposed
surrender and regrant in accordance with the Council’s
Constitution. This requires the Cabinet Member for Property,
Highways & Transport to formally authorise the grant of a lease
of under 7 years at a rent of between £10k - £100k.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
The Cabinet Member could have chosen not to approve the
surrender and regrant . This option may have led to further
complications such as unplanned voids, delayed rents, or
unauthorised alienation of the property.
On the other hand, agreeing to the surrender and regrant wa s
the most favourable option for the Council.
