Notice is hereby given that the following decision(s) have been made today by

Decision Approved
That the Leader and Cabinet Member for Residents’
Services:
1. Agreed to extend the current contract with Event
Power Engineering Ltd for the provision of the
Christmas lights programme for a one -year period
from 3 August 2024 to 2 August 2025 at a cost of
£159,485.
2. Approved the overall Hillingdon Christmas lights
2024 programme and associated expenditure,
totalling £229,789 as set out in the report, which
includes displays, Christmas trees and community
grants.
3. Authorised the direct award of grants to the four
community organisations who manage their lighting
schemes directly, as set out in this report.
4. Approved the use of General Contingency to fund the
planned spend, with this funding strategy requiring
Cabinet ratification.
Reason for decision Good quality Christmas lighting displays create civic pride and
provide a positive and festive boost for residents and businesses
alike, especially during the darker winter months.

The recommendations will ensure that Christmas lighting
displays can go ahead across 32 town and neighbourhood
centres.

The Leader and Cabinet Member could decide not to accept the
recommendation. This would mean that the Christmas lights
programme would not be implemented as recommended and
the subsequent benefits to residents and businesses would not
be fully realised.
