That the Cabinet Member for Finance & Transformation and
the Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Corporate
Services and Property agree to the following capital release
requests of £250k from the form Civic Centre
Transformation Capital Programme budget 2024/25 budget
from the funding of the (Appendix A).
Reason for decision The Civic Centre Members Car Park and escape staircase
currently has a lighting system that has been identified as having
a significant energy demand and high carbon footprint. In line
with the goals set forth in the Council's Strategic Climate Action
Plan, there is potential for making operational improvements to
the Members Car Park and Registrars access road to reduce
energy demands.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
Wiring circuits for the Members Car Park and escape staircase
from the Car Park have failed electrical tests. Delaying works
carries risk as it could result in total failure of the car park lighting
potential fire risk.
