Executive Decision Notice – 09 January 2025 This notice is a public document also available to view on the Council's website www.hillingdon.gov.uk OFFICIAL EXECUTIVE DECISION NOTICE PUBLISHED BY DEMOCRATIC SERVICES Notice is hereby given that the following decision(s) have been made today by Cabinet Members at the London Borough of Hillingdon: Title of decision Business Rates Hardship Appeal Reference No. 1280 Date of decision Thursday 09 January 2025 Call-in expiry date Decision comes into immediate effect Relevant Select Committee Corporate Resources and Infrastructure Select Committee Relevant Wards N/A Decision made Cabinet Members making the decision Councillor Martin Goddard, Cabinet Member for Finance & Transformation Decision Approved That the Cabinet Member considered the appeal for Hardship Relief and the information supplied in support of the application and determined not to reduce or remit the rate. Reason for decision The Cabinet Member took all the relevant information into account in making his decision. The Cabinet Member also had full regard to Section 49 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 which gives billing authorities the power to reduce or remit the payment of National Non-Domestic Rates in respect of both occupied and unoccupied premises. The legislation provides that an authority may only reduce or remit payment if it is satisfied that the ratepayer would sustain hardship if it did not do so, and if it is reasonable to do so having regard to the interests of persons liable to pay Council Tax set by it.
