ecision made
Cabinet Members making
the decision
Councillor Ian Edwards – Leader of the Council
Councillor Eddie Lavery – Cabinet Member for Community
& Environment
Decision Approved
That the Leader of the Council, in consultation with the
Cabinet Member for Community & Environment, agrees
to extend the current contract with Complete Weed
Control Ltd for the control of Vegetation and Weeds to
Hard Surfaces for the London Borough of Hillingdon for
1-year period 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026 and at
the cost of £132,203 for the period.
Reason for decision The Leader of the Council, in consultation with the Cabinet
Member for Community & Environment approved a
£132,203 one- year extension of Complete Weed Control
Ltd’s contract (1 April 2025– 31 March 2026) to maintain
effective weed management in Hillingdon. The decision
improved the safety and appearance of public spaces a nd
also reduced the maintenance costs associated with manual
weed removal.
Alternative options
considered and rejected
Alternative options were considered, and it was noted that
the absence of a weed control programme would result in
unwanted vegetation across the Borough, leading to
resident dissatisfaction and increased complaints. Without
regular treatment, areas such as paving, central
reservations, highways and social housing sites would
become visibly unattractive due to weed growth.
