Councillor Eddie Lavery – Cabinet Member for Finance &
Transformation
Decision APPROVED
The Cabinet Member for Finance and Transformation
approved the write-off of irrecoverable corporate debts
in accordance with the confidential report and the
Council’s financial and constitutional arrangements.
Reason for decision The recommendations ensured that debts with no realistic
prospect of recovery were written off, where pursuing further
recovery action would have been uneconomical. The
decision was taken in accordance with the Council’s
financial procedures and relevant decision making powers.
Alternative options
considered and rejected
Alternative options to pursue further recovery action wer
considered but rejected, as all reasonable recovery steps ha
already been taken and there was no realistic prospect o
recovering the debts. Retaining the debts on the Council
systems was theref ore not considered an appropriate o
effective option.
