Reason for decision The Leader and Cabinet Member were asked to agree the proposed rent in accordance with the Council’s Constitution. This requires the Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Property and Infrastructure to formally agree to any rent review. Alternative options considered and rejected The Leader and Cabinet Member could choose not to approve the rent review negotiated. This would be likely to then require the rent review to be referred for third party determination, either by arbitration or expert. This action would involve a degree of risk as third-party determination may result in a rental being determined above or below the rent negotiated between the parties.
