That the Cabinet Member for Finance and the Cabinet
Member for Property, Highways and Transport:
1. A ccepted the tender and approve d the award of
contract for the Planned Kitchen and Bathroom
Renewals Phase 29 to BCS (Electrical and Building
Services) Ltd at a cost of £365,250.30; and
2. A greed to the capital release request of £419k
inclusive of contingencies and fees from the
Kitchens and Bathrooms Renewals workstream
within the Housing Revenue Account Works to Stock
programme 2024/25 budget for the Planned Kitchen
and Bathroom Renewals Phase 29.
Reason for decision The proposed contract is to undertake the planned renewal of
40 kitchens and 40 bathrooms (+ 10 separate WCs) under
Phase 29 of the programme, as detailed in Appendix B. A
number of kitchens and bathrooms are in a poor condition and
at the end of their useful life.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
Moving away from the larger type of delivery contracts gives
greater flexibility to deal with risks associated with poor
contractor performance. This approach will enable more
specialist contractors to deliver installations at lower costs.
