Decision Approved
That the Cabinet Member for Financ e and the Cabinet
Member for Property, Highways and Transport agreed to:
1) award the Design and Build contract for the
restoration works at Uxbridge Cemetery Gatehouse
to Total Construction Ltd for the value of £437k;
2) the capital release request of £400k from the 2023/24
to 2024/25 Uxbridge Cemetery Gatehouse budget for
the restoration works at Uxbridge Cemetery
Gatehouse;
3) t he capital release request of £4 6k from the 2024/25
Property Works Programme budget for the funding of
the restoration works at Uxbridge Cemetery
Gatehouse.
Reason for decision The Hillingdon and Uxbridge Cemetery Gatehouse is a Grade 2
listed structure and is currently on Historic England’s buildings
at risk register. If the project were not progressed, the condition
of the building w ould continue to deteriorate and the costs to
rectify would become more expensive. As freeholder, Hillingdon

Council have a legal duty to keep the listed structure in good
order.

No alternative was considered as not progressing with the works
would lead to the building condition deteriorating further and
potentially becoming structurally dangerous.
