Cabinet Member for Environment, Housing & Regeneration and Cabinet Member for Finance agreed to the capital release request of £ 200,000 to fund the supply and installation of four new and one refurbished Outdoor Gym as detailed within the body of th e report, as part of the A sset Enhancement Programme for 2021/22. Reason for decision Chrysalis is the Council’s highly successful asset enhancement programme which funds projects ranging in scale from £5,000 to £100,000 for local initiatives that matter to residents. These can include installing an outdoor gym or new play equipment to improve fitness levels across all age groups, through to improving access an d facilities at clubhouses, recreation grounds and community centres. This promotes how all residents can play an active part in decisions that improve where they live and make them proud to live in Hillingdon. In February 2021 the Cabinet Member for Environment, Housing and Regeneration reviewed all applications for Chrysalis funding received from residents, community groups and Ward Councillors and i nformally agreed 21 new projects to gre atly improve community assets and resources across the Borough. The recommendations will enable residents to further benefit from the provision of free outdoor gym equipment at f our new locations across the Borough and the refurbishment of a well - used existing gym based on recently tendered costs. The new dedicated outdoor gym equipment will ensure that, as lockdown restrictions are removed, more residents can enjoy feeling healthier and increasing their activity. Alternative options considered and rejected The Cabinet Member s could decide not to accept the recommendations and either some, or none, of the five outdoor gym projects would not realise t he improvements which have been requested by residents and Ward Councillors.
