Executive Decision Notice – 29 June 2022 Page 1 This notice is a public document also available to view on the Council's website www.hillingdon.gov.uk OFFICIAL EXECUTIVE DECISION NOTICE PUBLISHED BY DEMOCRATIC SERVICES Notice is hereby given that the following decision(s) have been made today by Cabinet Members at the London Borough of Hillingdon: Title of decision SCHOOL CONDITIONS PROGRAMME 2022/23 - APPOINTMENT OF CONTRACTOR AND RELEASE OF ASSOCIATED COSTS: COTEFORD INFANT SCHOOL ROOFING WORKS (RELEASE NO 3) Reference No. 517 Date of decision Wednesday 29 June 2022 Call-in expiry date 5pm, Wednesday 6 July 2022 Relevant Select Committee Property, Highways & Transport Select Committee Relevant Ward Eastcote Decision made Cabinet Members making the decision Councillor Jonathan Bianco – Cabinet Member for Property, Highways and Transport Councillor Martin Goddard – Cabinet Member for Finance Approved That the Cabinet Member for Finance & the Cabinet Member for Property, Highways & Transport 1) Approved the appointment of Amber Construction Ltd as principal contractor to undertake roofing works at Coteford Infant School at a cost of £417k ; and 2) Agreed to the capital release request of £487k from the 2022/23 School Conditions Building Programme budget f or the funding of major roof works at Coteford Infant School. (Appendix A) Reason for decision Deteriorating flat roofs across the school site are now at the end of their serviceable lives, following an initial survey with Langley roofing and an additional survey with the appointed consultants, it was deemed a requirement for full replacement works. Heat loss and failing insulation added further evidence to the roofs deteriorating conditions. Alternative options considered and rejected Repairs were considered to prolong the existing life of the roof but these are deemed an expensive short term fix and defects are in such quantity that the success of such works would be Executive Decision Notice – 29 June 2022 Page 2 This notice is a public document also available to view on the Council's website www.hillingdon.gov.uk unlikely. Further investigation also proved roof 01 (front of school) to be compromised.
