Capital Release No 16 Reference No. 553 Date of decision Thursday 04 August 2022 Call-in expiry date 5pm, Thursday 11 August 2022 Relevant Select Committee(s) Property, Highways and Transport Select Committee Relevant Ward(s) Harefield Village Decision made Cabinet Members making the decision Councillor Martin Goddard - Cabinet Member for Finance Councillor Jonathan Bianco - Cabinet Member for Property, Highways and Transport That the Cabinet Member for Finance and the Cabinet Member for Property, Highways and Transport: 1. accept the tender and approve the award of contract Bell Decorating Group Limited for the provision of the planned remedial works at Barden Court, Sheltered Housing Scheme, Harefield to the London Borough of Hillingdon for a period of 6 weeks at the value of £156,175.00. 2. agree to the following release request of £ 180k inclusive of contingencies and fees from the Warm Safe Dry work-stream within the Housing Revenue Account Works to Stock programme 2022/23 budget for the planned remedial works at Barden Court, Sheltered Housing Scheme, Harefield. Reason for decision The proposed contract is to undertake the planned remedial works and replacement of rotten single glazed communal Executive Decision Notice – 04 August 2022 Page 2 This notice is a public document also available to view on the Council's website www.hillingdon.gov.uk windows and asbestos cladding at Barden Court, Hall Drive, Harefield. This is a phased programme of communal windows, doors and cladding renewals which is aimed at quickly dealing with replacements and enabling the effective management of smaller work packages and reducing costs using smaller more specialist installation companies. This company have effectively undertaken works for the Council. Officers are therefore confident that the price submission meets the Council’s required technical standards. Alternative options considered and rejected Moving away from the larger type of delivery contracts gives greater flexibility to deal with risks associated with poor contractor performance. This approach will enable more specialist contractors to deliver installations at lower costs. Classification That this report be declared as exempt from publication as it involves the disclosure of information in accordance with Section 100(A) and paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12 (A) to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), in that the report contains information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) and that the public interest in withholding the information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it.
