CIVIC CENTRE TRANSFORMATION (MAY 2023)

External Fabric Remedials and
Internal Re-modelling of the Middlesex Suite.
RELEASE NO: 2
Reference No. 811
Date of decision Wednesday 31 May 2023
Call-in expiry date Wednesday 07 June 2023
Relevant Select
Committee

Decision made
Cabinet Members making
the decision
Councillor Jonathan Bianco – Cabinet Member for Property,
Highways and Transport
Councillor Matin Goddard – Cabinet Member for Finance
Approved
That the Cabinet Member for Finance and Cabinet
Member for Property, Highways & Transport agreed to
the capital release request of £364k from the Civic
Centre Transformation Programme 2023/24 capital
budget for the architectural services, specialist
consultants and preparation work in relation to the
external fabric remedials and internal fabric re-
modelling at the Middlesex Suite.
Reason for decision The 1930’s Middlesex Suite is currently under -utilised and
as a large Council asset in the centre of Uxbridge Town
Centre, it is proposed to revitalise the building, as well as
improving the reception areas for residents.
Alternative options
considered and rejected
The alternative is to not go ahead with the works, and not
realise any benefits of using the underutilised floor areas of
the Civic Centre and Middlesex Suite. In add ition, more
recent surveys of the external fabric of the Middlesex Suite
have indicated substantial fabric and waterproofing
repairs are required to maintain this Listed Building.
