making the decision
Councillor Martin Goddard – Cabinet Member for Finance
Councillor Jonathan Bianco – Cabinet Member for Property,
Highways and Transport
Decision Approved
That the Cabinet Member for Finance and the Cabinet
Member for Property, Highways and Transport agreed to:
1. A contract v ariation to the Middlesex Suite Roof
contract at the Civic Centre with Greyline Builders Ltd
for £ 492k for a dditional structural works required to
the Civic Centre Roof.
2. The reallocation of £492k previously released capital
funds from within the Middlesex Suite Roof Remedial
and associated works element within the Civic Centre
Transformation Capital Programme 2023/24.
Reason for decision Structural strengthening is necessary for the roof to support
ASHP (Air Source Heat Pumps), requiring the removal of old
roof coverings. After completion, a new roof with a 25- year
guarantee will be installed. The reason the recommendation is
made is for best use of current asset area to benefit the de-
carbonisation of the Civic Centre.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
Alternative areas were investigated to accommodate the new
ASHP (Air Source Heat Pumps ), but, due to the Civic Centre
being Grade 2 Listed, these areas were considered not possible
by the Conservation planning Officer.
