The reason for urgency is that if the lease is not signed by the end of September, the boiler house cannot be demolished and will therefore not be able to disconnect the power supply to Coteford until Christmas. Resulting in 4/8 weeks delay, pushing the opening of the school back to October / November 2025. Agreement that the matter was urgent and could not have been reasonably deferred, along with the waiver of the scrutiny call -in period, was also granted by the Chairman of the Property, Highways and Transport Select Commitee.
