Decision made
Cabinet Members
making the decision
Councillor Eddie Lavery – Cabinet Member for Community &
Environment
Councillor Martin Goddard – Cabinet Member for Finance &
Transformation
Decision Approved
That the Cabinet Member for Finance & Transformation
and the Cabinet Member for Community & Environment
agreed the extension of the contract with Flowbird Smart
City UK Limited for the on and off -street pay and display
machine service for a period of 2 (1+1) years on the current
terms, at an estimated cost of £125k.
Reason for decision Motorists wishing to use the Council’s car parks and on-street
pay and display parking bays can currently pay either by cash
or card at pay and display machines, or through the Pay by
Phone service . To maintain these payment options, the
Council needs to provide and maintain a sufficient number of
parking pay and display machines to facilitate payment by cash
or card at all Council managed parking locations. These pay
and display machines are owned by the Council but operated
and maintained under contract by Flowbird Smart City Limited.
The Council entered into the current contract with Flowbird
Smart City Limited in August 2020 for an initial term of five
years. Within the contract there is the option to extend by a
further five years, in one -year increments. The proposal
recommends the extension of the current contract for a period
of two years.
