Notice is hereby given that the following decision(s) have been made today by

Decision Agreed
That the Leader of the Council, in consultation with
Cabinet Members:
1. Approved the appointment of Komfort Services
as principal contractor to undertake Classroom
rebuild works at Hedgewood School at a cost of
£641,603; and
2. Agreed to the capital release request of £833,100
from the 2026- 27 School Conditions Building
Programme budget for the funding of Classroom
rebuild works at Hedgewood School (Appendix
A) of the associated report.
Reason for decision Roof and structure related defects, on -going leaks and
condition surveys and recent repair attempts around the
Ladybird and Turtle classrooms have highlighted imminent
issues at Hedgewood School. The roofs connection to the
original building and the polycarbonate sheet of the
conservatory building extension is considered beyond their

serviceable life, and temporary repairs are no longer
effective deeming extensive works required throughout.
Alternative options
considered and rejected
Roof and structure repairs were considered to prolong the
existing life, but these are deemed an expensive short-term
fix, defects are in such quantity that the success of repair
works would be unlikely due to the polycarbonate roof and
the conservatory structure being outside of its serviceable
life. The polycarbonate roofs also present significant energy
losses, failure to address these would mean the school
would continue to see increased running costs.
