That the Leader of the Council, in consultation with 
Cabinet Members: 
 
1. Approved the appointment of Re -Gen (M&E 
Services) Ltd. as principal contractor to  
undertake Boiler Plantroom Works at Lady 
Bankes Primary School at a cost of £332k; and 
 
2. Agreed to the capital release request of £433k 
from the 2026- 27 School Conditions  Building 
Programme budget for the funding of Boiler 
Plantroom Works at Lady Bankes Primary School 
(Appendix C of the associated report). 
Reason for decision The Council has carried out condition surveys on the 
Community and Foundation Schools  w ithin the borough. 
The survey has identified priority works that need to be 
carried out in plant room at this school. The works set out in 
this report are required to prevent both the heating and hot 
water supply systems failing resulting in the potential closure 
of the schools.

Alternative options 
considered and rejected 
Repairs were considered to prolong the existing life of the 
plant, but redundant equipment and unavailable spare parts 
mean a full replacement of boilers, water heaters and 
associated controls  is the most effective solution in 
preventing the systems from failure. This is what is being  
recommended in this report.
