Agreed to the capital release request of £569k from the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Loft Extensions budget for construction costs and associated fees to extend 6 houses. Reason for decision To make the best use of the Council’s assets for the benefit of local residents requiring housing accommodation. Alternative options considered and rejected Alternative options to build new housing stock of 4 bed units had been explored, however, the opportunity to extend current stock is more favourable and would provide better value for money for the Council. The option to direct award for these smaller projects was selected at this stage for the pilot to enable officers to review whether this process of giving more flexibility on the design and bui ld of small extension projects can work successfully. If the pilot scheme is successful, then future phases will go through an open tender process.
