Title of decision
EXTENSION OF CONTRACT - CLEANING SERVICE FOR
THE CIVIC CENTRE AND OTHER CORPORATE BUILDINGS
Reference No. 680
Date of decision Wednesday 01 March 2023
Call-in expiry date Wednesday 08 March 2023
Relevant Select
Committee
Property, Highways and Transport Select Committee
Relevant Wards All wards
Decision made
Cabinet Members
making the decision
Councillor Ian Edwards – Leader of the Council
Councillor Jonathan Bianco – Cabinet Member for Property,
Highways & Transport *
* (approved by Councillor Ian Edwards on behalf of the Cabinet
Member for Property, Highways & Transport)
Approved
That, on behalf of the Cabinet Member for Property,
Highways & Transport, the Leader of the Council approved
the 2nd-year contract extension with First Choice Facilities
Services Limited to deliver the cleaning and porterage
provision at the Council’s Civic Centre and other corporate
properties to the value of £1,364,296 for the final 12 month
extension period.
Reason for decision The previously approved contract by the Cabinet, issued 4
February 2019, was for 3 years with the provision to extend for
a further 2 years (1+1). The contractor's performance has been
above standard during the previous 3 years and 8 months.
Alternative options
considered and
rejected
The contractor's performance has been very good over the last
three years and 8 months of the contract and officers consider
that taking advantage of the optional final year contract
extension is the best value option at the present time.
